Letters of Horace Porter to S.S. McClure and two magaizne portraits, 1888-1896.

In a letter,1892 May 9, Porter regrets that he was out of town and unable to submit the requested article. In a letter, 1894 August 20, Porter agrees to write to George Pullman concerning facilities for Ida Tarbell who plans to write "a truthful and instructive article" on the town of Pullman. In a letter, 1895 November 29, Porter thanks McClure for his "portrait" of Lincoln in "McClure's " magazine and asks him not to publish his own article on President Grant in book form. In a followup letter, 1896 January 25, Porter explains further that he wrote a series of articles on Grant years before and sold it to "Century" magazine who is now bringing it out. With the letters are two magazine portraits of Porter.
